YMCA WA’s youth engagement program YTime has teamed up with the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale and Byford Secondary College to revamp the tired, run-down Mundijong Skate Park.
The team tackling the redevelopment consists of nine students and two staff members, who have drafted designs to be painted onto the skate park, purchased the necessary equipment and begun sanding the flaking paint from the ramps.
After one more week of sanding, the team will be able to begin the ‘fun’ work, which will see new life brought to the skate part.
The young people have worked really hard to think outside the box and come up with designs that work within their budget, a process that will only add to their own life skills later down the track.
